Careers

CHLP is always interested in receiving resumes of people interested in attorney or advocate positions. Attorneys provide direct legal representation of low-income clients with disabilities in such civil matters as Social Security, Welfare, landlord-tenant disputes, debt collection, family law, and barrier-free accessibility. Advocates provide representation of clients before administrative tribunals (for example, at Social Security hearings).

Resumes can be sent to chlpinfo@chlp.org.

When a specific opening arises, it will be posted below.

Internships

The Community Health Law Project is always looking for law students who are interested in a legal internship in one of our offices.  Interns in our Regional Offices will assist staff attorneys in providing legal representation to clients on Social Security, public entitlements, housing, family, and other civil matters.  In our Administration Office (South Orange), interns research and write on civil rights and other disability-related issues.

Every year we also hire a law or graduate student to work as a public policy intern. Public policy interns research and write on matters of public policy that affect our clients, e.g., welfare regulations, proposed changes in the Medicaid program, psychiatric institution lien law reform.

Candidates can call 973-275-1175 for more information.
